The story is about a man who was unlucky because when he was young, he had been betrayed by his dearest friend that stole money and accused Silas, then he married Silas' fiancée. Silas Marner had been accused of a crime he didn’t commit. So, he ran away to a far village where he worked as a weaver. He worked hard and saved most of his money under the floor. In that village there were two bad sons who wasted their father's money: Godfrey and Dunstan. Godfrey married Molly secretly, and they had a daughter. Dunstan had debts so he stole Silas' gold and ran away. One day, Molly went to Silas' cottage where she died and left her daughter, Eippe with Silas who brought her up as his adopted daughter. Sails' gold was retuned back again. Later, Eppie married a farmer, but she never left Silas alone.

"A sound in the Air" is a historical story about a famous Italian scientist, Guglielmo Marconi. Marconi is the best known for his experiments on what he called the "wireless telegraph", which led to the invention many useful inventions like the radio.
Marconi's friends used to make fun of his big ears. As a child, Marconi was interested in Science books and doing experiments on moving sounds through the air. Marconi's father didn’t think the wireless sound would be important.But, he supported him with money to buy the necessary things to do his experiments.
