They drew huge lines and pictures of animal and plants.

They made them by taking the red sand from the surface of the desert to show the yellow rock beneath.

Scientists, engineers, architects, historians, archaeologists and mathematicians.
4- Mention TWO professions.

Deserts cover more than one third of the Earth's surface.

It is hot and dry in the day, cold at night. It rarely rains but rainfall can be heavy.


11- What do you need to survive in the desert ?
We need to find water and keep cool.
12- Mention TWO famous deserts in the world.
Sahara Desert – Gobi Desert – Arabian Desert
13- How are oases formed ?
They are formed when underground rivers rise to the surface.
16- What are oases ?
They are cool, wet places in the desert.
17- Mention TWO resources in the desert.

They travel by camel.
19- Who are the nomadic people ?
They are people who live in tents in the desert and move from place to place using
camels looking for water and grass.

They wear special clothes to protect them from the sun, the sand and the wind.
21- Why are oases considered the most suitable places to live in ?
Because they have water and plants, and they are cool and wet places.

They have layers of fats.

A person can be humble by not boasting to others and by not being rude to them.

My favourite kind of flowers are Lilies and roses.

Harp – piano – oud.
4- How should we treat our parents ?
We should obey, help, respect and be kind to them, we should also listen to their advice.

5- Where do farmers take the cows to eat grass?

They take them to the meadow.

6- Where can you see lilies?

I can see lilies in lakes or rivers.
                            Lesson 2: Kubbar island
7- What time do you reach school ?
I reach school at 7 o'clock.
8- How do you get to an island ?
We get there by ferry.
9- What do we use ferries for ?
We use ferries to go from place to another across the sea.
10- Where do we see the coral reef ?
We see the coral reef under the sea.
11- What can you see in Kubbar Island ?
I can see seagulls, coral reefs, turtles and fish.
12- What can you do in Kubbar Island ?
I can snorkel, dive, swim, walk along the beach and play beach volleyball.
13- Why do people write diaries ?
To keep their secrets and memories and to remember the important things that happened.
14- How many islands are there in Kuwait ? Mention TWO of them.
There are nine islands in Kuwait. Two of them are: Kubbar Island and Failaka Island.

                      Lesson 3 : "Pearl diving"
15- Mention TWO sources of Kuwait's wealth in the past and nowadays.
Pearls – oil
16- Where are pearls formed ? or Where do we find pearls ?
They are formed in oyster shells.
17- Why did people stop diving for pearls ?
Because it is too difficult and dangerous and Japan started produced cheaper pearls.
18- What do pearl divers wear ?
A nose clip – a black suit or a wrap around skirt – a neck basket – a toe anchor
19- What were dhows used for ?
They were used for fishing and diving for pearls.
